Make-up bargains from New Look

Who doesn’t love a bargain? Yeah, me too. Here’s a few I found in New Look…

Last weekend, I popped in to New Look to have a browse round (like I always do when I’m in town) and found that they had a load of presumably left over make up from the summer line reduced. Considering I’ve heard so may good reviews regarding Topshop’s own make up brand, I’ve been intrigued to try New Look’s brand for a little while now. I picked up each of these for £2 each which I thought seemed too much of a bargain too ignore!

So how did I rate these items?

I wore the lipstick for an evening out and coated the lipgloss on top to give the lipstick a bit more of a dramatic look. I don’t usually tend to wear pinky lipsticks as I prefer reds but considering I was wearing a pink dress, it seemed only fitting to match the two. If you are after a subtle pink lipstick then this is not one you should wear. It gives a vibrant, deeper pink colour which I really liked as I adore vibrant lipsticks. Armed with the lipgloss on top, they worked well together in locking in the colour and dewy shine. I wore them for about five hours and the colour was still just as vibrant and the lipgloss just as shiny when I removed my make up. I didn’t even touch up once! It felt a nice change to go for a glossy dewy look than my usual matte look for my lips. (I haven’t worn lipgloss since it was trendy in the 00’s when I first started experimenting with make up so it also felt a little nostalgic for me).

The mascara does not match up to the standards of the Benefit Roller Lash or Maybelline Lash Sensation but is a great mascara to use for everyday wear. I’ve been wearing it to work and it stays in place all day which is just what I want in a mascara for my 9-5 job. The wand’s bristles are similar to that of Maybelline’s and Benefit’s but is completely straight rather than having a curve as the other two do. I find the curve an advantage when applying mascara and I am also quite happy with the design of this wand as it prevents clumps and panda eyes.

Personally, I really like all three of them. However, I don’t think I will be swapping them for my usual choice of make up but I would certainly like to try other items in the New Look make up brand.
