The Potter’s Heron Wedding Open Day Event
As you may know if you read my blog posts, Greg and I got engaged recently. Last Thursday, we went to a wedding Open Evening Event at the Potter’s Heron. It’s a very pretty looking hotel/pub and considering we live close by, we thought that it could give us some ideas for when we plan our own wedding. As the event was in the evening, the hotel was all lit up and looked just as beautiful in the evening (Sadly, I didn’t take a photo of it to show you).
When we entered the hotel, we were greeted with a piece of a sample wedding cake and a glass of very nice Prosecco.
We were then given the opportunity to look at several different rooms laid out for a reception or a ceremony. As you can see in the photo above, this gives you an idea of how beautiful it all looked. Again, I didn’t really take any photos of the layout as we decided the venue would be too small. However, the ribbons on the back of the chairs gave us ideas as to how we could lay out our own wedding venue. They had a selection of various different coloured ribbons as well which made us think gold and blue would be a good choice as these are what we have in mind for our wedding colours.
What I did take photos of were the table decorations as I thought they would provide us with some ideas.
We’re thinking of having a bit of a Beauty & the Beast themed wedding so something like these roses would be perfectly in keeping with the theme, as would the candle holder seen below.
We both also really liked the back lighting (as you can see in the image above) but thought it wouldn’t really be in keeping with a blue and gold colored wedding but perhaps we could look at blue lighting. Although I’m not sure as to how good that would look in comparison to the purple…
Again, we both really liked this tree decoration. It would look great if we were going for a Frozen or Lord of the Rings themed wedding maybe but I don’t think it matches up quite as well as the roses do.
We also got to view a couple of the hotel rooms, they were really lovely looking rooms and very spacious. Overall, as much as it is a very beautiful hotel to get married in, it probably is a little small for how many guests we would like to be present. Seeing as we are both archaeologists by our academia and both love history, Greg likes the idea of getting married in a castle. He did after all propose to me in one!
I’m going to view some of the Disney dresses soon from the Alfred Angelo collection with some of my bridesmaids to be. I am very excited! I will write a post about it and the recent shoes I’ve bought as my wedding shoes too.
