It’s the end of an era as I decided to take the plunge and cancel my monthly Birchbox subscription. Here’s the reasons why.
If you regularly read my blog then you will know that something that usually features on it every month is my monthly Birchbox subscription. Unfortunately, it won’t be anymore. Why? I decided to cancel it.
Why did I cancel Birchbox?
It wasn’t that I didn’t like it as I did but the trouble is, it was getting to that point where I just didn’t have space to store the boxes anymore. I started subscribing to it February/March last year and I was really enjoying trying samples of new brands I’d never heard of or lots of Benefit samples but then I started to just get the same things over and over again. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining but I honestly just don’t have the space to store it!
I have a drawer full of beauty gifts and all my Birchboxes with some of the boxes still full of samples that I hadn’t used as I either had forgotten about them or wasn’t that fussed. So I thought to myself, “What is the point in subscribing to this when I could save £13ish a month to spend on something I actually wanted?”
That was the final decision for me. Don’t get me wrong, I think they’re a great company but when you don’t have the space there’s no point spending that money every month. I do have to thank Birchbox though for introducing me to Liz Earle and other Benefit products that I wouldn’t have bought otherwise. I also discovered a couple of moisturiser brands too which I absolutely adore and wouldn’t done otherwise.
Would I recommend Birchbox?
If you want to try some new higher end branded products then I would definitely recommend as it works out about £2/2.50 per sample. I might subscribe again but for now, I’m not going to. In all honesty, I wouldn’t mind having a look at Glossybox.
Do you or did you used to describe to any beauty boxes? What would you recommend or what was your experience with them?
