Rimmel has always been my back up/go to brand since I was about 15 and until the last couple of years, I hadn’t really branched out in trying much other make up in fear of having some kind of acne breakout. The same went for my nail varnish until the last year when I quit my job at Costa Coffee so could start wearing nail varnish again, Rimmel isn’t the cheapest but it is of reasonable quality that is budget/student friendly to your bank account.
|The Super Gel nail polish after 9 days on my left hand|
As much as I love wearing nail varnish, I quite often find they chip within a matter of days of wearing it and I work in an office these days! Being a fan of gel/acrylic inspired nails, I had been eyeing these up for a while but was then lucky enough to be given a set*.

What did I think of it?
The packaging advertises that the nail varnish lasts up to 14 days, I have currently been wearing it for 9 and there’s only a few signs of chipping/cracking but it is still very much in place! Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo before I took it off but I wore it for a grand total of 16 days and it wasn’t until about day 13 or 14 that it started to show obvious signs of chipping. Therefore my verdict on this would be that you could paint this on your nails for a week’s holiday and not have to worry about your nails chipping within a day or two (Depending upon what you are doing of course!).
Although it doesn’t make your nails look like you are wearing fake acrylic nails, it does give them the shine that acrylic nails give them. It also dries relatively quickly too! The only thing I would say to be weary of is to make sure you swipe the brush on the lid so that you don’t end up with massive dollops of nail polish all over your hands and nails (Note to self there!).
Would I purchase this again?
Yes, I would to put it quite simply. If you buy a combined set like this one it will contain both a nail varnish and the protector top coat. Once you have the top coat protector, you could buy any other nail varnish separately in the acrylic range. I haven’t personally tried it yet but I reckon you could use the top coat protector with any other nail varnish you own whether it is Rimmel or a different brand. I own quite a lot of OPI nail polishes so will be trying it with those in the not so distant future!
Have you tried the Rimmel acrylic nail polish set?
