David Bowie & a family trip to London

During the summer holidays, my family and I decided to have a family day outing in London. This included a visit to the Imperial War Museum, a visit to Brixton to see the David Bowie memorial and a jolly to a pub in Waterloo…

A couple of weeks ago, my siblings and parents were going to London for the day to visit the Imperial War Museum, so Greg and I also came along too. My Mum was mainly going for research for her degree while the rest of us just went for a day out really. We are a family with an interest in history, especially World War One and Two and a number of both my parents family had significant roles relating to both wars as I am sure a lot of people do when tracing their family back or asking their grandparents for information on family history.

I hadn’t been to the Imperial War Museum since 2013 when I went with my friend Joe but unfortunately they didn’t have much in the way of exhibitions at the time due to probably renovating in time for the World War One centenary. Not only was it interesting to read more about the World Wars but more information on the Holocaust (which was also very harrowing and gruesome) and the Secret Services. It is all free (as are most London Museums) apart form a couple of exhibitions that they run at a particular time and we were inside there for a good few hours.

Once we had had something to eat and were all deciding what we wanted to do for the next few hours, Greg and I decided that we were going to go visit Brixton, my family went off to do their own thing. As you may or may not know there is a David Bowie mural there that has been created by Australian artist Jimmy C in 2013 after researching Bowie’s life. Being a massive Bowie fan and having time to kill, I couldn’t not take this opportunity to go visit it and obviously take a selfie.

We then had a look around Brixton and went back to Waterloo to see my parents. We had a pint, sat by the Thames for a bit to see the Jubilee Gardens and then caught the train home.

Westminster

Okay, so these couple of photos aren’t from the same day but when I went to the Bloggers Festival last week I had a browse round Westminster and had a quick stop at Starbucks to pick up a Pumpkin Spiced Latte. I couldn’t really just write a separate post about buying a Pumpkin Spiced Latte so thought I would add them in here.
