Okay, so I know I’m a little late to the game to be doing a whole “New Year, New Me” style post but I wanted to do a post like last year where I set myself some goals and see what I end up achieving by the end of the year. I’m going to blame my broken boiler and lack of enthusiasm for blogging over the last month for not writing this post sooner!
Achieve my weight target
Since finishing university and despite my best efforts, I’ve been trying to shift the extra couple of stone I gained. Unfortunately I tend to have this habit of yoyoing and I want to get out of that and get down to my target. I need to find an ideal fitness regime that I stick to to finally lose that extra bulge.
Become more organised!
This is something I just need to learn to do more in general. I could always be organised when an essay would need to be started and finished by at uni but I can’t quite apply this tactic to my work life and blog. I need to learn to schedule posts on social media and for the blog as well as learn how to organise myself enough to squeeze in my fitness regime, feel satisfied with my sleeping pattern and have everything ready for work so there’s no need for a mad rush in the morning.
Learn a new language
In August last year, I started teaching myself French but a few months later life started to get on top of me and I just stopped. I want to get back in to teaching it to myself and maybe even learn German. I know it’s not going to give me the ability to instantly be bilingual but it’s a start and I enjoy learning new languages. Plus it would be useful to know as I would like to go back to both Germany and France.
Grow, grow, grow!
I don’t literally grow as I haven’t grown since I was about 12 (Unless you count outwards…) but I would like to grow or at least learn how to on all of my social media channels. Last year I set goals of trying to achieve over a thousand followers on Twitter and over a hundred followers on Bloglovin. Now I know that’s not a lot and people easily achieve more than that in a year but seeing as I find it hard keeping up with social media, I don’t think it was too bad as I managed to achieve over this target. This year, I would like to hit over a thousand followers on Instagram, 3,000 on Twitter and several hundred more on Bloglovin. Let’s see if I can achieve this by the end of the year…
Something I’ve always wanted to do since I was really small is travel and see the World basically. I don’t want to spend my whole life sat behind a computer screen. I love experiencing new cultures and parts of the World and having the opporortunity to see it with my own eyes and document it with my camera. Greg and I have a little trip planned to Denmark/Sweden later on in the year and other potential plans to visit other parts of Europe so long as we can save up.
This is something I really need to start doing as I have lots of big ideas but unfortunately to be able to do most of them, I need a large sum of money! This means cutting down on my spending habit and not buying so much uneccessary make up or clothes. Like I said in my previous point, I want to go and travel and experience more of the World but in order to do this saving money is a must! I also need to invest in some more homeware items as despite Greg and I being fortunate enough that we’ve been given a large amount of it is also from when we were students. Now considering Greg started uni seven years ago this year and I started five years ago, it’s done pretty well to last so long especially seeing as these items were bought cheaply with the mindset of “I’ll replace this when I finish uni!”
Stick to a fitness regime
As previously mentioned in my getting organised point, I want to get into a fitness regime I enjoy and stick to as opposed to managing to do it for a few weeks then stopping then starting it again for a few weeks. I did start going to reenactment training with Greg but just haven’t had the time to go since before Christmas. Therefore learning to be organised, I want to get back in to going and maybe even look at joining a local sports team.
Learn to say no
As I’ve grown older, I’ve learnt to grow a back bone and say this more. There is nothing wrong with simply saying that you don’t want to do something. However, there are occasions when I should remember this so I don’t end up in any awkward situations.
What are your goals for 2017?
