ModiBodi: An underwear brand for periods

Periods. That wonderful thing us girls have to go through on a monthly basis. On the one hand, it’s reassuring that Mother Nature’s still gracing us with the opportunity to have babies (Without also having said baby, well for me at least anyway) but on the other hand, it’s a complete pain in the butt for not only making us feel ill but for also having to get the truly flattering granny pants out and ensuring that we have our sanitary pads and tampons stocked up.

This is where the wonderful Modibodi pants come into play as it means we can kiss goodbye to the granny panties and also the tampons and sanitary pads.

How does Modibodi work?

It’s not really something I can explain off the top of my head but here’s a video Modibodi put together and you can also see a pretty good explanation on their website.

My thoughts on Modibodi

I was talking to the brand at BlogconLdn and despite being a little hesitant about how well they worked, I was very much open to trying them. I mean, after having studied advertising and knowing that there at least has to be some element of truth in a product’s ability, in order for a brand to advertise it, then they had to have some truth to them. So when I was asked if I was interested in trying a pair, I agreed as I was really intrigued to see how well these worked*.

Could they really prevent odour or leakage!?

As you can see from the photos, my pair is a classic full brief style and look very much like a standard pair of underwear which makes them look quite discreet. The material feels similar to a swimming costume but sits comfortably against your skin like any other pair of underwear.

In all honesty, I quite often forget that I’m on the jam when wearing these, as you don’t have to deal with the hassle of tampons or sanitary pads, other than the general cramps and bloating (At least that’s what I usually suffer with anyway, so I can’t speak for everyone else!).

My biggest worry was leakage and what if it leaked through to my skirt or jeans but after trialling them for at least two periods now, if not three, I can safely say that this worry has now swiftly gone. I haven’t suffered from a single leakage.

Another positive for me when wearing these is that I can pair them with a black bra which makes me feel like I’m wearing matching undies, and in turn, gives me a sense of self-confidence which I’ve never really experienced before, especially during shark week.

The only negative thing I could think of was that they aren’t cheap, but when we live in a world where our generation is trying to become more ethical and you tally up the cost of how much you probably spend on sanitary pads and tampons in your lifetime, these are most definitely worth it.

Unfortunately, I can’t afford to buy any more pairs this side of Christmas when I have pressies to buy but I will certainly be purchasing some more to ensure that I have enough pairs to last me during my time of the month.

Have you tried Modibodi or something similar, or even have any other recommendations?
